I could blame it on the noisy hotel bedding. I kid you not--for some strange reason, the sheets and pillowcases actually made a crinkly noise every time I turned over! It wasn't just me--other people staying at the hotel also commented on it. As one conference attendee put it, it was like sleeping in newspaper! Too much starch, maybe?
Lora Thomas and I met a lot of great people, both writers and readers. Some readers had come quite a distance. I talked to two women from Minnesota and two others from Arkansas. Quite a few were from Kentucky, of course, as well as Indiana and Ohio. I lost count of the number of autographs we signed, and we passed out lots of bookmarks and candy.
Jennifer and Kevin Laslie, and their son, Bryce, deserve a big THANK YOU and several pats on their backs for all the hard work they put into getting this event off the ground. It had to take an incredible amount of planning.
My next in-person event will be on September 2 at the Chrisman Mill Winery in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Books AND wine--now that's a great combination! For more information, click HERE.
