TO SHOVEL OR NOT TO SHOVEL

I have never liked snow. I guess it’s possible that I might have liked it as a child. I do  remember building snowmen and making a snow fort, but I hated snowball fights and never liked sliding on ice. I don’t recall school snow days either, but maybe that’s just an old dog’s faulty memory. I think I’ve finally entered the you-kids-don’t-know-how-good-you-have-it generation. Pretty soon I’ll be claiming I walked five miles to school in the snow—uphill both ways.

Here in Kentucky we had a pretty good winter up until the last couple of weeks. Then we got hit with ten inches or so of snow, then make-you-wish-you-were-in-the-South-Pacific cold, followed by another couple of inches of snow. Nothing like those poor folks in New England, but still enough to bitch about.

The silver lining in winter weather is that it’s a good time to write. Other than reading, what else can you do? Oh, yeah, shovel, but I’ve got another old dog in the house who takes care of that. So I’ve been writing and working on my websites. I decided to make a separate site for my blog (as you can see if you’ve visited before).

Bad Girls, the second book in my Eden mystery series, is coming right along. I estimate I’m about halfway through the first draft. I will publish it sometime in the spring, although I don’t have a definite date yet. I’m also in the planning stages of another romantic suspense novel.

On the negative side, the panel/signing scheduled for this past Saturday at the Fleming County, Ky., library had to be cancelled. It’s been rescheduled for March 28th. I have another panel this coming Saturday at the Woodford County, Ky., library; I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the weather cooperates for that one. It’s strictly for romance writers and I will be one of eleven writers on the panel. Besides the rescheduled one for March, I have three in April and a book fair in May. And I’ve got a lot of libraries left to call.

Below is a picture I took of the lake. That mist is what’s coming out of the only part we could see that wasn’t frozen. This is what I see when I stand up from my keyboard and look out the window. When I see this, it almost makes me like winter!

Almost.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW ONLINE

2/4/2015

I tried something new the other day (I'm doing a lot of that lately!). Lots of websites do author interviews and the people who run three of them ask for interviews on Goodreads. I decided to try one, filled out the interview form, and it went live today. Check it out here:

I'm also looking into doing a blog tour. Those cost, but not all that much. Depending on which package you buy from where, your tour can last from a week up to a month or more. The number of blog stops changes according to the package as well. What you do on each blog stop varies from an interview to a guest post to a contest or giveaway and probably some other things I'm not thinking of. Most of the companies who run blog tours also ask for blog hosts, so if any of you reading this are bloggers, check it out. It helps fill out the blog without you having to type your fingers to the bone.
