Name Your Poison, the third installment in my Top Shelf cozy mystery series, went live today. It's my tenth book, but releasing a new one never gets old. I hadn't released one since early last year, so it's really a good feeling to bring another one to life. And even better, I'm motivated to start the next Top Shelf book NOW! I'm tentatively calling it Double Shot.
It's funny how sometimes it's so hard to write, but days and weeks go by and suddenly there's a book. Any of you out there who want to write a book but are intimidated by the idea of actually doing it, don't be. I wish I had started when I was younger, but I don't dwell on that. I'm doing it now, and that's what's important. So whether you're a 20-year-old aspiring author or an 80-year-old aspiring author, go for it!
I published my first one, Catch A Falling Star, in 2014. Just five years later, I have ten--eleven, if you count my boxed set of Eden books, but that's just a set of three existing books. It takes work to put the three together, but it's not like writing a new book. I'm not selling huge numbers yet (very thankful for my husband's pension and my social security check!), but every month people buy my books or read them through Kindle Unlimited. Every month! And not just in the United States, but in other countries as well. It makes every moment spent sweating over a stuck plot line worth it!
Now I'm going to go write the first sentence of Double Shot. And after that, I'm going to celebrate today's release of Name Your Poison. In honor of my heroine, Ricki, I'm going to make it a shot of Bailey's. Cheers!
