Spring has sprung, daffodils have come and gone, trees are budding, and my farmer gene is rearing her ugly head. It happens every spring and is frustrating when you live on rock coated with two inches of dirt, but fear not. I bought grow bags this year, and today I'm going to be planting potatoes! Are you impressed yet?
All kinds of things have been happening since I last posted. First (and most important), we now have a new septic system! It was completed last week, although the health department hasn't yet inspected it and signed off. Since it's working the way it should, I'm not expecting any problems. I know you city folk are probably more impressed that I'm planting potatoes in bags, but trust me--a potato grow bag doesn't hold a candle to a good septic system. It's a big one, too--1500 gallons. We've known the installers for years, and I can't help but wonder if they're telling us we're full of "it" by installing such a big tank.
More good news--Whiskey Kills got a Bronze award in The Wishing Shelf contest! So that makes a 2016 Bronze for The Body on the Barstool and a 2017 one for Whiskey Kills. My arm is still a little sore from patting myself on the back, but I think it will be okay. Seriously, though, it is quite an honor to have gotten the award one year, much less two.
I had a book event in Corbin, Kentucky, this past Saturday and one in LaGrange, Kentucky, the Saturday before that. In both cases, I got up between 4:30 and 5 AM and drove two-and-a-half hours. I'm getting too old for that! My next book event isn't until July (the Lexington Legendary Book Bash on July 14), so at least I have time to rest up.
I finally started on the third Top Shelf book, Name Your Poison. I think I said in an earlier post that I planned on releasing it in April. Hah! Don't ever pay attention to any deadline I give you. I'm not even going to try to give one now. I will only say I'll release it when it's done.
However...I am releasing the three Eden mysteries in an ebook bundle (I hesitate to say "boxed set" because there is no box involved) this month. I've uploaded it to KDP, and they say it will be live within 72 hours. It will be available on Amazon at a lower price than the three books would cost individually, and it will also be available through Kindle Unlimited.
Well, I think that's all I've got to talk about. Now I have to go get those potatoes in the ground--er, bag. Have a great spring!
