Johannes Jacob Duchard

My 5th Great-Grandfather, Johannes Jacob Duchard, fought in the War for American Independence. His Great-Grandson, King Anthony Deckard, fought in the Civil War. It is known that Jacob Duchard was at the Battle of Stony Point with Mad Anthony Wayne, and at the taking of Fort Sackville with George Rogers Clark. It is also rumored he was one of Washington's spies! What is known, is that he was also a gunsmith who made the now famous "Deckard Rifle". Although Jacob can be placed at certain points at certain times, little is known of in between. This book seeks to fill in the gaps, from historical events, as seen and remembered by his Great-Grandson as he goes from one battlefield to the next during the Civil war..

A Game of Chess

White Pawn to d4. Black Pawn to d5. White Knight to c3...

I was hunting one day when I, most likely sitting high up in a treestand without having seen a deer all morning, compared the hunting of deer to a game of Chess...and so it really is in some regards. The deer being the King of course, and the goal is harvest the deer in the end, which in my mind was the equivalent to Checkmate.

With this concept running through my mind, I decided that it was fitting of a fictional story of a man and a deer, each trying to outsmart each other in the beauty of the fall woods. It is, a game of Chess...

Old Abe

Highly acclaimed as the "best President ever." How well do you really know Abraham Lincoln? Did you know he forcibly closed down over 300 newspapers, forcing most to relocate to England? Did you know he had Federal Troops fire on civilians in Maryland, and the Maryland Militia came to the defense...9 people died? Did you know he ordered the hanging of 38 Native Americans? Did you know he ordered the military invasion of a peaceful country? I ask again, how well do you know Abraham Lincoln? This book sets to piece together what made such a President break the boundaries of the Constitution. To some he was a savior, to some he was a god, but who really was this man? History has been rewritten...
